    This course is designed for parents of primary school-aged children who are sensitive and strong-willed, and who may struggle with emotional regulation. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by your child’s big emotions or challenging behaviour, this course will provide you with practical tools and strategies to help both you and your child navigate these moments with calm and confidence.
  • When does the course take place?
    The course will run for four weeks, with a live Zoom session each Monday from 20th January to 10th February 2025. Each week, you’ll gain new tools, insights, and strategies to help your child regulate their nervous system and manage their emotions.
  • How is the course is delivered?
    The course is delivered through weekly live Zoom calls where we’ll dive deeper into the course content, discuss practical strategies, and answer your questions in real time. Here's what to expect during each session:

    Week 1: Understanding Your Child’s Nervous System
    We'll start by exploring the science behind emotional regulation, helping you understand how your child's sensitive, strong-willed nature impacts their behavior. You’ll leave with concrete tools to begin supporting their nervous system immediately.

    Week 2: Practical Techniques for Emotional Regulation
    In this session, we’ll cover specific techniques to help your child manage overwhelming emotions. You’ll learn how to apply calming strategies in real-life situations, helping your child (and yourself!) stay grounded during difficult moments.

    Week 3: Strengthening the Parent-Child Connection
    We’ll focus on building a deeper, more supportive relationship with your child, teaching you how to respond with empathy while setting healthy boundaries. You'll learn how to foster a secure emotional bond that promotes cooperation and calm.

    Week 4: Long-Term Strategies for Maintaining Calm
    In the final session, we’ll explore how to maintain and build on the tools you’ve learned, ensuring lasting change in your parenting and your child's emotional regulation. We’ll also discuss self-care strategies for you as a parent to prevent burnout.

    Each live Zoom call will include time for Q&A, so you can get personalized advice and feel fully supported throughout your journey.

    After each live call, you will be sent an email with access to the homework, resources and tools.

  • What age range of children is this course suitable for?
    This course is specifically designed for parents with primary school-aged children (ages 5–12). The tools and techniques we cover will help you address the unique needs of children in this age group who may struggle with emotional regulation, impulsivity, or sensitivity.
  • Will I receive support throughout the course?
    Yes! You’ll have access to a private Facebook community where you can connect with other parents, ask questions, share experiences, and get feedback. Additionally, you’ll have access to the Resonant Parenting Project helpdesk if you have any specific questions.
  • Can I apply these tools if my child has other behavioral challenges (e.g., ADHD, anxiety, etc.)?
    Absolutely! While this course is focused on sensitive, strong-willed children, the tools and strategies taught can also be beneficial for children with other behavioural challenges such as ADHD, anxiety, or other emotional regulation issues. These techniques are flexible and can be adapted to suit a range of needs.
  • What if I can't attend the live Zoom session?
    No worries! If you're unable to attend any of the live Zoom sessions, each session will be recorded and made available for you to watch at your convenience. You’ll have access to the replay shortly after the live call, so you can still benefit from all the insights, strategies, and Q&A discussed during the session. This way, you can stay on track with the course, even if life as a busy parent gets in the way!

I'm Dr Genevieve and I'm a clinical psychologist,, conscious parenting coach, author and specialist in high sensitivity, parents and kids.

 

For the last 20 years I have been working with sensitive, strong-willed children and their families, both in the NHS and private practice. With a deep understanding of the unique challenges these children face, I have developed proven strategies to help parents foster emotional regulation and resilience.
